WALK WITH STEFANIA MIGLIORATI
In all directions
Mapping art and creative aggregation in a path of getting lost understood as an adventure.
We won’t meet in a single point and then move together, but the other way around: we’ll start from different points to get to the same spot. The walk will take place according to contrary rules, maintaining an awareness of a common experience. I will know that at 4 pm across the town or around the corner, someone like me is starting his/her path with a camera, pen, paper and a list of directions to follow. Actors and actresses of their paths, but protagonists of a shared project. Following the instructions downloaded from the website of Walk with the artist, we’ll trace a personal itinerary in which you will be required to carry out very simple actions, as to turn on the first road to the right, or take the first available street that you never walked. You will be asked to get lost, to let it be, to let things happen, and to let meetings take place. Without fear because we’ll learn to extricate ourselves and still get to our destination. During the journey, following the directives, you’ll be asked to draw the trailed path and to photograph all those reference points that you’ll build, whether they are people, objects or places, and which will allow you to orient yourself in the city. Destination: Accademia Carrara! Once at the Academy (do not worry about the timing, everything is indicated on the directions sheet) an afterword will follow the walk, referring to its contents, purposes and contexts. Then we will compare our experiences in a computer viewing the photos and the drawn maps you collected.
A reflection inspired by the book Perdersi of Franco La Cecla about getting lost, housing, the concept of belonging and alienation, about the processes of settling and familirizing that design and build our mental maps.
MEETING POINT: Each participant can start from any point of his/her choice after having downloaded and printed, or checked online, the instructions to follow that will lead to the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, where we all are going to meet.
