An open and participative project started in 2014 that is still in progress. It takes the form of a relational walk where the participants are asked to create a personal itinerary in which they are required to carry out the very simple actions indicated in a PDF file linked on the Facebook page of the project. The goal of the instructions is to lead the participants in experiencing the possibility of becoming lost within the environment and to perceive the surroundings in terms of experimental knowledge, coming into contact with the population, its culture and themselves as significant individuals in relation with the others. At the end of the walk, the documentation collected through photographs and maps will be posted on the Facebook page and everybody can share their own reflections on their personal journey. The project was inspired by the book Perdersiby Franco La Cecla, which explores the concept of getting lost, creating a sense of home, belonging and alienation as well as the processes of settling down and familiarizing that design and draft our mental maps.

DISPLACED MONUMENTS AND DISAPPEARED PLACES – WALK WITH REBECCA AGNES
Meeting Point: 2pm at Rosenthaler Platz, Berlin.

“The walk begins from one of my favorite places, Rosenthaler Platz. From the time I moved to Berlin in 2006 I always lived nearby this square, until 2013. Strangely, the place that I liked so much no longer exists, except in my memory. Here we can no longer find all of the kiosks and galleries, or the Squat house of Brunnenstraße 183, or Wilhelm-Pieck-Straße, but we can meet Heinrich Heine in Weinbergspark. Along RosenthalerStraße, we stumble over numerous Stolpersteine, where a name is engraved against forgetfulness on every stone, we glance at the entrance of my former studio apartment, we stop at the print shop of Theodore Görner and we enter Haus Schwarzenberg, where Otto Weidt runs his brush factory for the blind. Approaching the historical center of the city, we meet a group of people, Marx and Engels are still looking at an empty lot where the ghost of the Palast der Republik still resides. At the Neue Wache, we list how many times the place has changed function and name. And, at the side of the university, we say goodbye near the clone of Heinrich Heine”

Der Spaziergang kann jederzeit begonnen werden. Danach lädt die Künstlerin zu einem Treffen am Samstag, dem 4. August um 16 Uhr in der Galerie Wedding, Müllerstraße 146/147, 13353 Berlin, ein.

Das offene und partizipative Projekt begann im Jahr 2014 und wird immer weiter entwickelt. Die Form des Projekts ist eine Art relationaler Spaziergang, bei dem die Teilnehmer gebeten werden, eine persönliche Route zu erstellen, bei der sie simple Instruktionen befolgen müssen, die einer .pdf-Datei auf der Facebook-Seite des Projekts zu entnehmen sind. Das Ziel der Instruktionen ist es, den Teilnehmern zu ermöglichen, sich in der Umgebung zu verlieren und sie dadurch auf eine experimentelle Art und Weise neu zu erfahren und mit den Bewohnern der Nachbarschaft und ihren Gewohnheiten in Kontakt zu kommen und sich selber als bedeutsame Individueen in der Beziehung zu anderen zu sehen. Am Ende des Spaziergangs wird eine Dokumentation anhand von Fotografien und Karten erstellt und auf der Facebook-Seite gepostet. So können alle Teilnehmer ihre eigenen Gedanken und ihre persönliche Reise teilen. Inspirationsquelle für das Projekt ist das Buch „Perdersi“ von Franco La Cecla, welches die Idee des Sich-Verlaufens untersucht – das Verlaufen als ein Auslöser von Zugehörigkeitsgefühlen und gleichzeitiger Distanz; sesshaft werden, sich die Umgebung einprägen und kognitive Landkarten erstellen.

Meeting Point: 14.00 Uhr, Rosenthaler Platz, Berlin.

„Der Stadtrundgang beginnt an einem meiner Lieblingsorte, dem Rosenthaler Platz. Seit ich 2006 nach Berlin gezogen bin, habe ich bis 2013 in der Nähe des Platzes gewohnt. Komischerweise existiert der Ort, den ich immer so mochte, nicht mehr wirklich – außer in meinem Gedächtnis. Die ganzen Spätkäufe und Gallerien, das besetzte Haus in der Brunnenstraße 183 oder die Wilhelm-Pieck-Straße sind alle nicht mehr da, aber jetzt können wir Heinrich Heine im Weinbergspark begegnen. In der Rosenthaler Straße stolpern wir über zahlreiche Stolpersteine, in die Namen eingraviert sind, um sie vor dem Vergessen zu bewahren. Unser Blick streift über den Eingang meiner ehemaligen Wohnung, wir machen einen Stopp bei der Druckerei von Theodore Görner und betreten dann das Haus Schwarzenberg, in dem Otto Weidt seine Pinselwerkstatt für Blinde betreibt. Wir nähern uns dem historischen Stadtkern und treffen auf eine Reihe von Menschen: Marx und Engels schauen immer noch auf die Brache, auf der der Geist des Palast des Republiks weiterlebt. Bei der Neuen Wache zählen wir auf, wie oft der Ort schon seine Funktion und seinen Namen geändert hat. Und dann neben der Universität verabschieden wir uns in der Nähe des Klons von Heinrich Heine.“
